Summary:
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing and selecting suppliers for all purchasing of goods and products, as well as determining and implementing the lowest cost methods of purchasing, freight forwarding and logistics.

Responsibilities:

  • Support scheduling team on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Become an expert user of our ERP system, using best practices, and sharing expertise with others.
  • Partner with Sales to ensure accuracy during the quotation and procurement phase.
  • Review and maintain supplier managed programs, scheduling agreements and blanket orders.
  • Negotiate with suppliers regarding delivery expectations, forecasts, design changes, lead time management, and material expedites or delays as well as drive cost reduction opportunities.
  • Resolve non-conforming issues from receiving inspection to supplier corrective actions and ensure records are properly maintained.
  • Develop, lead, and execute strategies for both production and non-production purchases.
  • Expedite orders as necessary while taking steps to prevent the need for future expeditions.
  • Inventory Management- Continuously analyze data, seeking opportunities to reduce stocking levels without disrupting production flow. Plan for purchases of products stocked in inventory and components used in manufacturing, and issue relevant purchase orders to domestic and international suppliers.
  • Responsible for creating, updating and maintenance of raw material part numbers in ERP, including recommending changes to reorder points and maximum inventory levels.
  • Supplier Relations – Manage relationships, review supplier performance and initiate action for improvements, maintain price lists and availability, source and evaluate new suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field, will consider work experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Exemplary communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Evaluation of suppliers with scorecards or ratings.
  • Knowledge of products purchased for quality review.
  • Inventory control relative to dollar volume and space.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Knowledge of international purchasing and logistics.
